Eliminating Barriers to Racial Equity

Camille Young, DEI Training Coordinator Consultant

Camille Young is the Diversity Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Training Coordinator Consultant for ERASE Racism, the New York-based civil rights organization. In that capacity, she offers tailored diversity and equity training to a broad range of organizations in the private, public, and nonprofit sectors. Camille has extraordinary experience in the field, having conducted diversity training in all three sectors. Camille's experience began as a high school student, where she participated in a program that gave students a deep understanding of the history of race and racism in America and training on facilitating conversations with peers and community members.

She continued her commitment to exploring racial equity and social justice at Washington University in St. Louis, where she majored in Cultural Anthropology and African & African American Studies, while organizing and conducting diversity trainings on campus. Camille's leadership was also instrumental in establishing the university's Center for Diversity & Inclusion. Since then, she has continued to provide diversity training as a consultant to businesses, educational institutions, and nonprofit organizations.

Camille is a Montessori-trained early childhood educator, who has specialized in teaching

grades 3 to 6. She holds a Master's degree in Education from Loyola University Maryland and an Association Montessori Internationale Primary Diploma from the Washington Montessori Institute.

Camille's work with children as they develop their student identities and racial awareness, in both intensely segregated and racially diverse schools across the country and abroad, has further enhanced her equity training. Her passion for racial equity and community-building have enabled her to develop and deliver innovative, interactive, and transformational DEI initiatives – both in-person and virtually. Her background enables her to create safe spaces where people can be vulnerable about topics such as bias, racism, privilege, discrimination, and oppression while building capacity and skills to create inclusive, welcoming communities.

For those interested in engaging with ERASE Racism, Camille can evaluate your organizational needs and construct professional developments and trainings to ensure that DEI principles are deeply embedded throughout your organization.
