Edward Pichardo is Of Counsel to the Law Office of Edward Pichardo PLLC. He is an experienced labor attorney and government affairs and public contracting specialist with extensive experience as a union-side labor specialist.Prior to starting his own practice, Mr. Pichardo was of counsel to the Kings County District Attorney's Office Youth Diversion Programs. Mr. Pichardo was of Counsel to the Government Practices and Labor Relations at Meyer Suozzi, English & Klein P.C.. Mr. Pichardo was In-house Counsel for the Transport Workers Union, Local 100, representing the union and its 36,000 members in Federal and State court and as well as at the NLRB and PERB. He also served as Community and Political Coordinator for the Laborers International Union of North America – Eastern Region, assisting in organizing efforts throughout New York City and New Jersey and representing Local 78 at Building and Trade Councils.
From 2009 to 2011, Mr. Pichardo served as Labor Counsel and Program Director of the Workforce and Economic Development Team for the New York State Senate. While serving in this position, he was a legislative co-author of the 2010 Business Diversification Act, enacted to increase contracting opportunities for Minority and Women Business Enterprises (MWBEs) on a state level. Other legislation on which he made key contributions included the Wage Theft Prevention Act, the Construction Industry Fair Play Act and the Domestic Workers Rights Act.
Mr. Pichardo graduated from the State University of New York at Binghamton with a B.A. in Political Science and Afro-American/African Studies. While in college, he served as Vice-President and President of the Black Students Union and, during three summers, he worked with children on Long Island as a tutor/counselor for the Upward Bound programs at Dowling College and Hofstra University. He received his law degree from Marquette University Law School where he served on the boards of the Black Law Students Association and the Hispanic Law Students Association.
Upon graduation from law school, he worked as an Assistant Public Defender at the Wisconsin State Public Defenders Office. While there, he served as a board member of the Young Professionals Division of the Milwaukee Chapter of the Urban League.
Mr. Pichardo is fluent in both English and Spanish.
